I joined the Running Group in part because of the invitation from the our President. As a non-runner, the idea of running even .5 km was intimidating. However, the real reason I decided to take the challenge was due to the support of my colleagues: all that jeering and the dares of my precious friends tipped the balance toward saying yes to a new personal challenge. Thanks to the great coaching from Brenda of the WorkingWell, the support of the people I ran with regularly and especially the on-going interest of a co-worker who is experienced with running, I am now able to run for long periods of time in all kinds of weather and actually find myself looking forward to it and loving it. The physical, emotional and spiritual benefits of running are well documented and I can attest to many of them. Mostly though, the best part of running has been the new friends I have made, the friendships that have been recast and the ready excuse I always have to head outside and run around like a kid again.
